In this course, I’ll be sharing my years of experience and unique techniques that bring horses to life on canvas.

In case we have never met - let me introduce myself - I’m a realist artist, working mostly in oils (or sometimes charcoal). I’m a New Zealander but have been living in the UK since 1993.

Although I’m happy to paint anything with a soul, I return time and time again to painting horses. Apart from a love affair with these wonderful creatures, I have developed an endless fascination with the sublime beauty and softness of their coat, hiding a muscular and skeletal structure beneath that is capable of enormous power and strength. Capturing this duality is both a passionand a struggle that is likely to last a lifetime!

I am so often asked about my process and in particular, how I achieve such a level of detail in my work without losing that ‘paintlerly’ feel that takes it beyond a photograph into a piece of art. After many requests, I have created a course for you that I hope will answer all your questions and guide your through my process from start to finish.

How it will work:
